Educating The New Generation Through Films
The Finnish educational system is considered among the best, if not the top, in the world. Thanks to the government, this prestige is due to its progressive commitment to excellence in improving the quality of education offered in academic institutions in the country.
Finland is in constant search for new ways how to adopt to the ever-changing need and circumstances of our generation. If a method is proven by research, Finnish schools will soon implement it.
According to a 2018 survey conducted by a leading video production company in the US, majority of educators around the world recognise and believe the importance and advantage of videos in learning experience. The Millenials which make up the biggest generational group have grown attached to media technology.
The role of videos in our generation's learning is remarkably undeniable. Different online digital platforms are amassing followers by the millions, both youth and adults.
Videos and films are the latest, most commonly used, and most engaging medium of information in our time. HEFFI is specifically designed for this purpose - to educate the new generation through films.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENTS & AWARDS CEREMONY UPDATE
Due to several significant and exciting developments—most notably the acquisition and ongoing renovation of our own dedicated facility—we are making important updates to our program structure and to the way the Helsinki Education Film Festival International will be implemented moving forward. As part of these changes, the Awards Ceremony will be rescheduled to early next year. We will announce the exact date shortly, but the event is currently planned for early February 2026 and will be hosted at our new premises. These developments represent meaningful progress for the festival. Our new facility will enable us to expand our reach and strengthen our mission by creating more opportunities for filmmakers and selected works to connect with a wider audience across Finland. We are building new forms of cooperation with schools, universities, and other education-focused institutions. This includes on-site and remote screenings, facilitated discussions with filmmakers, and additional engagement opportunities designed to foster dialogue, reflection, and creative collaboration. These initiatives are part of our long-term vision to deepen the role of film in education, strengthen community engagement, and provide sustained pathways for cultural and pedagogical exchange. We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support during this transition. Together, we will continue to educate and inspire the world through film, creativity, and technology.
